Working the the school Camera Club we gathered over 2000 images of our town from the past and set out to take identical images for a select 100 to really show the march of time within the town. So proved difficult, with new houses and trees obscuring views but the project led to some fascinating insights, particularly regarding the size and changing profiles of the town's quarries.
Not only did the project look at changes through the buildings and landscape but also on the towns' people. The accompanying exhibtion was launched by Reg Dean, Wirksworth's oldest resident at 107!
The exhibition will tour local libraries and town and village halls as well as in local primary and secondary schools to promote a greater understanding of local history but also to forge bonds between generations.
