Dalby Forest Visitor Centre

Based on our environmental work for the Youth Hostel Association at nearby YHA Lockton, we were asked to help interpret the Forestry Commissions' brand new 'eco' visitor centre, set in the rolling woodlands of Dalby Forest, near Pickering, North Yorkshire.
Within the exhibition zone we installed: a model village, complete with a bellow-powered wind turbine; a working toilet with a clear perspex cistern, to demonstrate water usage of standard and low-flush toilet systems; and pride of place, an eight foot, solar-powered Green Man automata - complete with roving eyes, spinning fruits and protruding tongue - a big hit with the young at heart.
