YHA Whitby
Youth Hostel Association
Following the YHA's £3m refurbishment of Abbey House, perched on the Whitby headland next to the Abbey ruins, we were tasked with bringing to life the rich history of the house, which in parts dates back to the 13thC. Having researched the key characters and architectural features, we designed a series of interpretation panels, a hand held media guide and commissioned a sculpture commemorating the discovery of a 13thC timber beam during the renovations. To open the hostel we organised over 60 local school children to mingle with the invited guests, performing plays and songs inspired by the building.
